No, we're not dead- we've just been really really busy!
Team 3256 has been hard at work for the past few weeks brainstorming, CADing, and fabricating the robot [and minibot] for the FRC 2011
Logomotion! Challenge. So far, the main chassis of the robot is currently being welded by our lovely welding experts! A manipulator for grabbing and hanging the game pieces is currently in the process of being designed and CADed. A minibot is also in the works!
Our business team has also been hard at work writing and editing our Chairman's Award essay, logging and ordering robot parts, and much more!
Discreetly, a completely new website is in the works as well. :)
On the behalf of Team 3256, the WarriorBorgs, we wish you a productive build season and hope to see you at the regionals!
On October 22 and 23, the WarriorBorgs participated in the 2010 Calgames event at Lynbrook High School. Seeding 8th out 36 teams, the WarriorBorgs reached the
semi-finals before being beaten by a tremendous 1st and 3rd seed team alliance. Being a hugely productive experience for our rookie drivers, Calgames was hypothetically a gigantic success! Congratulations Team 3256!

Team 3256 is proud to announce that we are the new champions of the 2010 Sacramento Regional! Along with our allies, Teams 604 (Quixilver) and 2761 (Clovis North Robotics), we made our way through the elimination rounds with no losses, until the final round where we defeated Alliance Three 2-1. During the awards ceremony, we were also awarded the
Highest Rookie Seed Award,
Rookie All-Star Award, and
Industrial Safety Award, along with the
2010 Sacramento Regional Winner Award.
Since we are the regional winners and we won the Rookie All-Star Award, we will be attending the 2010 FIRST World Festival in Atlanta from April 15th-17th. We are already ecstatic about the trip, and we are raising funds to cover transportation, lodging, and tournament fees for the event. We hope to see you there!
Thanks 604 (seeded #1) for picking us (seeded #2). You guys are a great mentor team.
Go WarriorBorgs!
Yesterday, the WarriorBorgs made modifications to the FRC robot, including replacing the treads on the rear wheels of the robot, which were worn out during SVR. We also made modifications to the roller, so that it can grip the ball better. We modified the kicker so that it can kick the ball accurately, even if the ball is not centered. We also replaced the polycarb guards on the front of the robot with aluminum ones, which now extend back farther to keep balls from getting stuck under our robot. Lastly, we tested and made modifications to the autonomous code for the middle region.
Once again, we would like extend our thanks to our sponsors, mentors, parents, and all those who have made the team possible. Good luck teams. Go WarriorBorgs!
On March 18-20, the WarriorBorgs team 3256 competed in the Silicon Valley Regional Competition. Fifty teams from around the state competed in the tournament. This regional is known as one of the most competitive tournaments.
This season challenge was to design a robot within specific size limits that could “play” soccer in a 27’x54’ field with two alliances composed of three teams each. The WarriorBorgs competed very well reaching the quarter finals. We received two awards:
The Quality Award with the following comment from the panel of judges:
“
From the layout of their pit to the operation of their robot, this team builds excellence into everything they do. Their written brochures and reports are models for more experienced teams to emulate. During this event, they used their science know-how to kick start their kicker. These hard working Warriors may be new to FIRST, but they have set a new standard for quality in Silicon Valley. The Quality Award sponsored by Motorola is presented to team 3256.”
We also received the
Industrial Safety Award. This is what the judges had to say:
“This team followed safety fundamentals by using innovative ways to eliminate or protect against hazards. This team consistently demonstrates excellence in safety performance that shines in the heat of competition. This team demonstrated safety awareness, preparedness, and practices that exceeded expectations and went beyond what more experienced teams did. They consistently removed trip hazards and kept all tools and equipment away from aisles. Team members knew how to review Materials Safety Data Sheets to protect the team and its members from hazardous substances. Notably, they had created a portable kit for handling battery spills and used it in this competition to assist another team. These Warriors have assimilated safety understanding and practice into their operations...Congratulations team 3256.”
As a rookie team, we did very well and succeeded in representing God and VCS with excellence. We will be competing on March 31st and April 1
st at the UC Davis Regional. Please pray that we a safe trip and that we continue our Quest for Excellence.
Each of my fellow team members worked very hard to help make our team a success. Join me in congratulating the following students for their pursuit of excellence: Jonathan Allen, Vanessa Arneson, Iryna Butsky, Marcus Byrd, Kevin Dorn, Nikhil Jha, Veronica Lane, Andrew Lee, Ning Li*, Matthew Lin, Chad Nijim, Tae Park*, Jason Shen*, Liz Sprague, Amy Wu*.
*International students
We appreciate all of the support that VCS has given the robotics program. We are grateful to all the mentors and parents who helped us throughout the season. We also appreciate everyone who came to support us at the competition.
Today was our second day at the Silicon Valley Regional. We had six matches with different alliances (3 teams per alliance). We won 1 tied 1 and lost 4. We scored at least 3 points per game and were always the highest scoring team in our alliance. In the past few days we have been given over 30 safety tokens (which is a lot!) for having a safe working environment and demonstrating knowledge about safety procedures. We have all been having fun and are very excited for tomorrow. We're almost done with our first competition ever! Go WarriorBorgs!
Tomorrow we have 3 more qualifying rounds. Elimination matches begin at 1.
